This book consists of three well-defined parts. The first is an explanatory introduction to the chapters that follow. The reasoned justification of the chosen geographic area and a detailed description of the geological origin, its climate and its vegetation, in addition to a biogeographic synthesis, a phylogeographic essay and a list of reptiles that have been found in the area.
The second part consists of seven chapters that exhaustively describe the reptile species in the area. Finally, the third part consists of a chapter that offers a review of some of the conservation problems that Macaronesian reptiles currently face. All of this is accompanied by a careful presentation and photographs and color illustrations.
