Pilar Montaner's painting is a continuous evolution in which the imitation of nature and the human horizon becomes a way that allows her to express the convulsive changes that her life would undergo.
The painting of natural landscapes is the genre that best reflects Pilar Montaner's evolution throughout her career. From the first finely drawn realistic prints, through the paintings adjusted to the impressionist precepts that predominated during the first decade of the 20th century, to the dark slopes of her last canvases, the landscape shows the different moods that the painter went through.
But despite the fact that the styles evolved significantly between 1895 and 1922, her main theme was almost always the island of Mallorca.
