It is evident that the expression à-palabre must have occurred to a settler or a priest arriving from Nantes or Marseille, but it is also true that it is so descriptive and accurate that it is not too surprising that it made a fortune among the Senufo villagers.
À-palabre is translated as "to chat" and invites us to think about those village women who, after a hard day spent with stoves and mortars, choose to plant their sturdy buttocks on the seat of a chair to talk about this and that or to tell those stories about snake hunters that will remain anchored in the memory of earwigging children.
The one we now propose at Black Market is a chair from the communities of southeastern Burkina Faso, with a smooth seat secured with cut nails and a very simple backrest formed by two stringers and a crossbar.
