Some claim that humans began to be humans the same day we discovered the beauty of amber, that fossilized, orange resin that, according to others, would have therapeutic properties for the spirit. Be that as it may, in North Africa and in all the regions of the Sahel where Sufi missionaries arrived, amber became such a precious commodity that some went so far as to kill to obtain or preserve it.
For this reason, when the first phenolic resins capable of being molded and adopting shapes and colors reminiscent of amber appeared at the beginning of the 20th century, they immediately filled the markets with beads. First they did it with the help of unscrupulous merchants who offered a piece of cake, to finally establish themselves as a product accepted and sought after by artisans and their clients. Now phenolic beads also have their place in our hearts.
