Gun Vodú libation glass (Zou department, Benin Republic)
In a Gun Vodú ceremony, a libation glass can never be missing so that it can be filled with sodabé (a palm wine distillate), chuc (sorghum beer), sucreries (sugary soft drinks) or honey. It can be a simple container, but sometimes it acquires a more or less complex decoration that refers to the deity or spirit invoked.
At Black Market we offer you a libation glass from the south of the Republic of Benin, in which a small conical container is melted into an amalgam of clay, wooden dagid dolls and a sea shell decorated with cowries.
