Dogon barn door
Dogon window shutter with hogons (Mopti region, Mali)
The bas-reliefs on this shutter, formed by two similar boards joined only by large metal slats, represent four hogons (spiritual leaders equipped with a staff and a fez-type headdress), escorted by as many horsemen brandishing spears. A central band formed by cow heads and four masks (two "dyommo" hares, and two "walu" antelopes) separates the humans into two series.
