Mali wedding beads (Bohemia)
Mali Wedding Necklace –Bohemia– (origin: Bamako, Mali)
In the last quarter of the 19th century, bohemian beads, molded following industrial processes, had become considerably cheaper and now some necklaces and ornaments could finally leave the palaces to fall into the hands of the more popular classes. Even so, they were a symbol of wealth that were only worn on special days and ceremonies.
This is the case of the necklaces known as Mali Wedding necklaces, made with bulbous or hourglass-shaped beads produced in Bohemia, which at the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century became highly appreciated among women of the Fulani ethnic group. .
The Mali Wedding necklace that we now offer is made up of 80 bulb-shaped beads 25 mm long, made in very varied and attractive colors in Jablonec (Austro-Hungarian Empire, currently Czech Republic) and strung on an 80 cm thread .
